Players should already be Spirit Hasting like madmen so nearby sisters should be going on the offensive rather than preparing for an incoming attack. While Spirit Burst does give small boosts to armor, initiative, and dodge, the effects are not very impressive.

Both skills are instant actions that cost valuable AP. Level 10 allows the Soulslinger to choose between Spirit Burst or Detonating Shot.

This will damage and push enemies, but let’s face it, that’s what the other sisters are there for. For those curious, the other skill to choose is Projected Force. For example, don’t trigger Blacksmith’s Grace on a Shieldbearer in preparation for an incoming attack, only to boost her initiative and give her another turn. Use the skill wisely as not to waste a previously triggered ability that costs a percentage of HP. The Spirit Haste ability can also bring a sister back from a burst mode penalty. Two Soulslingers on the field will basically quarterback the battle as they decide who goes where and when. A double Spirit Haste effectively passes the Soulslinger’s turn to a different sister and allows for multiple turns/attacks to occur. This will allow her to fire off double Spirit Haste, which is pretty much game-breaking, without going into burst. If players have been leveling up & resurrecting the same Soulslinger, she'll most likely gain a boost to her AP among other buffs. The skill becomes broken when equipped with an initiative boosting memory. This will boost a targeted sister’s initiative by 20 points. Spirit Haste is THE life-saving skill of any difficult Synapse or Boss Fight. Level 5 introduces the most important Soulslinger skill in the game. Paired with another Soulslinger, one can shoot an enemy twice while the other fires off Shadow Rounds for each attack.

The most practical use is to pair a Shadow Round with a Blademaster’s Imbued Blade attack or any other delayed attack for that matter. The best part is it will trigger multiple times as long as the Soulslinger’s sisters keep pumping out damage. Therefore, Shadow Round is the ‘True to type’ choice for this upgrade. She ought to be standing out of the enemy’s movement range while close enough to blow their brains out. The AoE of Wrathful Rain goes against everything the Soulslinger should be doing. While Wrathful Rain, on paper, sounds like a must-have, Shadow Round will be far more situationally effective. Like their sisters, Soulslingers have four upgrades that they’ll choose from as they level up.Īt level 2, The Soulslinger will choose between Shadow Round and Wrathful Rain. They’ll be able to protect their sisters from incoming attacks, as well as dish out bonus damage each time another lands a blow. Dropping in with a pair of them will make later game fights far more manageable. As she levels up, she’ll be able to boost her sister's initiative and allow for multiple turns before enemies even have a chance. So who should they double up on? The Soulslinger should be the obvious choice as she is highly effective in every situation. However, as the game progresses, players will be allowed to add party members. Granted, players should always be going into Synapses with one of each.

Players can argue until the plague-cows come home over which sister is a ‘must-have’ in any combat situation.
